A cruise is a great chance to get away and have a unique adventure. A cruise is perfect for an all-girls getaway, a family trip, or a romantic journey. All inclusive cruises are even more fun, with great food and entertainment available right on the ship.
Most cruises are all inclusive, or may include some dining and activities. It is important that one gets factual information about what is offered on the ship so they know what to expect and what to bring or prepare for. Knowing what to expect can help one pack accordingly. Most ships have at least one formal event that will require a dress or suit. Special wedding themed cruises, honeymoon, or couple’s cruises may expect formal clothing to be worn at all restaurant meals, though there are often many alternative dining options on a ship, such as cafes, buffets, restaurants, or self serve dining areas. Sometimes drinks are offered free while some drinks may cost extra (i.e. wine or liquor).
One’s room may vary depending on the cruise line. Several options may be available, such as a choice between a suite or a smaller stateroom. If maid or attendant service is used on the ship, it may be a good idea to bring some small bills to use for tips. A typical tip should be three to five dollars a day for these services. There might also be waiters deserving of a tip.
Most cruise ships offer a multitude of activities. Depending on which cruise liner one is taking the trip with, different activities may be suitable while others might not be. For a getaway with friends, a ship may offer spa services or a gym. If it is a family cruise line, there will likely be a kid’s play area or special events planned for the children, such as scavenger hunts. Pools and hot tubs are a common occurrence on modern ships. There is usually a lounge area on deck. Shows such as concerts and comedy routines might be an option. A cruise can be a one of a kind adventure, particularly with an all inclusive line.
